Amazing 99 years old down under

98y.o. Japanese (M.D) came to give a talk to Melbourne yesterday. They had a small trouble setting his microphone for first few seconds, though we had almost no trouble hearing him without it from 15m away!!
What he said about how to stay healthy was simple- breath properly (important to empty your lungs first to increase sufficient O2intake), stay active, love and be loved, and choose people to have around. I liked the last one.

Hinohara’s been inspiring how much you can do in your life in Japanese especially the elderly for decades by him being a living model since he was 59 y.o. when he faced to a life threatening event as being a hostage of a hijack incident (it reminds me of Jon Gabriel, he had a plain-related life changing experience, too.
This tells us how hard to change ourselves under the normal circumstance!).

He is known as the director of St. Luce's hospital (est. in 1902) in Tokyo where successfully saved a large number of casualties in the subway sarin attack in ’95 by having the extra space for them in the hospital waiting rooms and chapel designed for emergency situations. Despite of the major criticism of “excessive investment” for having such a big space (one thing they wouldn’t dare to afford was unpractical space in the middle of Tokyo) prior to the construction work on this building three years before the incident, Hinohara carried out his initial plan based on his own experience during the last world war, and soon it happened to show how vital this facility was.

He is specialized in preventive medicine.
